June Madness: Library Kicks Off Bracketology of Books

By Zachary Lewis, Heidi Gauder and Jason Wardell

Roesch Library has gone mad! In the spirit of March Madness, the librarians at Roesch have compiled a list of 64 books, and we need your help to determine a winner — and avenge UD’s missed opportunity at the NCAA tournament!

64 titles, 4 AREAS, 4 genres … 1 champion

Students, faculty, staff, alumni and the public can fill out the tournament bracket to predict the big winner. Beginning Monday, June 1, voters will pick the winners of the first 32 matchups, with brackets representing four areas on campus and four distinct genres. Each week, the pool will be cut in half until two titles face off for the championship title.

It’s a book battle for the ages. Will the winning book be a science fiction/fantasy title representing the Bombeck Center? Or a classic from Campus South? Will a nonfiction title from Fitz Hall take it all, or will one of Marycrest’s mystery/thriller titles snag a Cinderella victory?

Enter your bracket; cast your votes

The winner will be decided by you! First, fill out your tournament bracket. Which books do you see in the Sweet 16? The Elite Eight? The Final Four? Once you’ve made your picks, open this research guide each week to cast your votes on that round's matchups. The participant with the most accurate predictions will receive bragging rights as the winner of UD’s first ever June Madness competition!

Don’t just play … read

Feeling like a good summer read? Members of the University community can request titles from the University Libraries' leisure reading collection and pick them up on Friday mornings. Or, visit your local public library online to find out how it's circulating its collections.
