THREE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW

University closed Aug. 13 in honor of the Feast of the Assumption

The UD community is observing the Feast of the Assumption Friday, Aug. 13, as a University holiday. The Feast of the Assumption is a Marian feast day observed in the Catholic and Orthodox churches Aug. 15 to commemorate the Blessed Virgin Mary being taken up bodily into heaven. Like all Marian feast days, the Assumption points us to experience more deeply the truths about Christ. On this day, Catholics celebrate Christ's promise of eternal life and our own bodily resurrection. Mass will be held in the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 15. COVID-19 vaccination clinics scheduled for week of Aug. 16; no appointments needed

The University, Miami Valley Hospital and Premier Health will offer no-appointment, walk-in clinics for UD employees and students Aug. 17-22 at Premier Health After Hours Urgent Care located in Marianist Hall, across from the Student Health Center and above the bookstore. 

  • Hours are: 1:30-4:30 p.m. Aug. 17, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Aug. 18 and 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Aug. 19-22.  
  • The date of your second dose will be booked for this location at the time of your first dose. 
  • There is no out-of-pocket cost; but it may be submitted to your insurance to cover administration fees. Bring your insurance card, UD ID and driver's license or passport. Premier Health will assist those on-site who do not have health insurance. 
  • Drink plenty of fluids and eat a meal or snack before your vaccine.
  • After you receive your vaccination, use UD's confidential reporting form to report your COVID-19 vaccination and upload your vaccination record.  

Appeal for additional financial aid assistance

If your financial circumstances have changed from what was reported on your FAFSA, such as a job loss or reduction in income, you may qualify for additional federal, state or institutional need-based assistance. You may submit a special circumstances appeal with the Office of Financial Aid. Click here for more information and to complete the form

Everything you need to know: Course materials edition

Visit the UD Bookstore blog for information on ordering course materials for the fall 2021 semester. E-books are available online. Physical textbooks and materials can be purchased in person at the bookstore starting Aug. 16.

New leadership for UDayton Global

Lindsey Garbenis has been named managing director at UDayton Global and Nicola Work will be starting a three-year term as academic chair. Garbenis, who joined the UDayton Global team in 2018, has served as director of admission, working closely with recruitment, admissions, enrollment services and campus teams to manage the admissions process and bring qualified students to UD. Work is an associate professor of French in the Department of Global Language and Cultures. Read more about the announcement on Porches. 

New classroom space reservation system

Classroom space reservations, including LTC space, must now be scheduled through the new 25Live system. Use your UD username and password credentials to access 25Live and request access to the appropriate user group. You cannot submit an event request until assigned to a user group, which could take 2-3 days. View the 25Live system user guide here. Additional information is also available here. You do not need to use 25Live to book room and event space in Kennedy Union, Adele Hall, V.W. Kettering Hall, ArtStreet spaces (when not being used for classes), outdoor spaces and Curran Place.
