Register for MVRPC roundtable on UD's carbon neutrality pledge
By Mark Gokavi
The Dec. 4 edition of the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission sustainability roundtable features an overview of the University of Dayton’s carbon neutrality pledge.
Ben McCall, executive director of UD’s Hanley Sustainability Institute, and Matthew Worsham from UD’s facilities management will discuss the planning and projects behind the pledge, such as the university’s carbon neutrality feasibility study, the school’s potential power purchase agreement, and a geothermal assessment and potential for carbon-free thermal energy.
The event from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, is free and open to the public, but pre-registration is required before 3 p.m. Nov. 29. On-site parking is available.
The location at 1401 S. Main St. in the Fitz Center for Leadership in Community is near the Stewart Street bikeway and is served by Greater Dayton RTA routes 11, 16 and 17 and a block from the RTA’s free FLYER service and route 14.
The commission also has made available the Sustainable Miami Valley Toolkit, a resource guide developed for local governments seeking to educate residents, improve environmental performance of internal operations, save money and participate in the larger effort to combat a changing climate.
