Profile

Gift Olalusi is a graduate student in the University of Dayton’s College of Arts and Sciences, where she is pursuing a Master's degree in Communication alongside a certificate in Health Communication. She is the graduate assistant for the Health Equity Fellows Program at the Fitz Center for Leadership in Community. The fellows' program is an avenue for her to explore health communication more practically to proffer solutions to the health inequities that exist in the community.

Her research interest includes mental health communication, Persuasive communication and Interpersonal communication. In her studies, Gift is focusing on health communication, as she will be exploring the health communication strategies that will effectively cause positive attitudinal changes in Nigerian men as they meet their mental healthcare needs. Her interest in mental health communication stems from her goal of enlightening the public on the truth about some fact-deficient understanding of mental illness and strategically communicating the effects of the stereotypical issues associated with toxic masculinity in Nigeria.

Gift received her bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication at the University of Lagos, Nigeria. Upon the completion of her Master’s degree, she intends to further her education by acquiring a Ph.D., hence becoming a Professor of Communication.
