Profile

Dr. Kahandawala leads UDRI's Kinetics and Process Engineering group, which conducts fundamental and applied research in environmental and green energy technologies. In order to support efforts to move away from fossil fuel use, Dr. Kahandawala and his group work across other UDRI groups and divisions to enhance and utilize processes existing in nature to generate energy in an economical manner with the least impact on the environment. This includes research in algae biomass, biofuels, biogas, wind, hydroelectricity, and other emerging green energy technologies. In environmental technology, Group expertise extends to alternate low-cost wastewater treatment, CO2 sequestration, pollutant emission reduction and characterization from chemical and other waste disposal, alternate fuel / fuel additive engine performance assessments and emissions characterization, development of fuel efficient and cleaner burning engine technologies.
