Early Career Fellowships

This program is designed as a year-long cohort that will focus on writing and submitting early career grant proposals, with an emphasis on the NSF Career Award.

Federal Grant Seekers Fellowship Program (FGSF)

This fellowship provides junior tenure track faculty in the School of Engineering with the opportunity to identify and work on federal grant proposal(s) with a cohort of other faculty and to prepare to and then meet with program director(s) at a federal agency (ex – NSF, NIH, EPA, etc) in Washington, D.C. area in May.  

Kern Entrepreneurial Engineering Network (KEEN) Grants 

These are for faculty to infuse their undergraduate engineering courses with Entrepreneurially Minded Learning (EML) and other advanced learning pedagogies such as Active Collaborative Learning (ACL), Problem and Project Based Learning (PBL), etc. Faculty are empowered through development opportunities, peer interaction and funding commensurate with effort designing EML modules. See go.udayton.edu/KEEN for more information. 

Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (S.U.R.E.)

Faculty have the opportunity to submit an application to get financial support to have University of Dayton undergraduate engineering students work on a research project in the faculty member’s lab. Additional funds are also available for project related materials and supplies and students are eligible for housing in the residence halls at a reduced rate. 

University of Dayton Research Council Seed Grants (RCSG)

These are competitive and merit-based awards. The purpose of these seed grants for new tenure track faculty is to assist eligible faculty members in the initiation of research during the summer months. New tenure track faculty may apply for grants under this category in only each of their first four years at the University of Dayton. 

External Funding for Summer Research

USAF Summer Faculty Fellowship Program (SFFP)

SFFP fellows conduct research in collaboration with Air Force researchers for a continuous summer period of eight to twelve weeks at the Technical Directorates of the Air Force Research Laboratory, U.S. Air Force Academy, or Air Force Institute of Technology. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
