Move In

  • Early Pickup

The policy for Early Arrival can be found at Residential Services.

  • Key Pickup

Pick up your key from 461 Kiefaber.  Notification will be sent via email regarding key pickup or you may contact Housing and Residence Life at (937) 229-3317.

  • Cleaning

If vacant for the summer, all University properties are cleaned prior to student arrival for the Fall term.

If a property was occupied during the summer, an "occupied" cleaning is performed late July or August.

Please contact us if upon your arrival you are not satisfied with the condition of your assigned residence. Requests must be made within 72 hours of your arrival.

  • Room Condition

Inventory of all University-owned property will be conducted July through September during the hours of 9:00am - 7:00pm, Monday - Friday.

The Housing Condition Form must be completed by each student at the time of arrival to campus.

Report discrepancies or accept the condition form.

Move Out

  • Extended Stay

The policy for Extended Stay can be found at Student Development.

  • Non-Graduating Residents
Students who are not graduating must depart and return all keys within 24 hours after their final examinations. Refer to your Closing Letter for actual vacate dates.
  • Key Return

All keys must be returned to 461 Kiefaber.

  • What to Take

All personal belongings must be removed from the house/apartment. Houses may not be used for storage. The University is not responsible for any personal property left in houses.

Clean-up crews are scheduled to clean out houses as soon as they are vacated. Any items left in houses will be removed. Removal charges will be assessed for removal of any non-University items (i.e. sofas, chairs, boxes, trash, posters, food items, dishes, etc.).

  • Personal Storage

The University is not responsible for student personal property of student residents. Please be sure to take your belongings with you when you depart.

Should you need to ship personal items, please contact either the UD Bookstore or another local shipping company. Local Storage companies are also available for storage of personal belongings. You may look in the phone book for local storage companies.

  • Inspections

Houses will be inspected in May to assess any damages, furnishing inventory and cleanliness. Letters will be sent to each resident detailing charges to their accounts prior to June 8 of the current year.

The following should be done prior to departure:

  • Clean house, including bathroom and bedrooms.
  • Empty and clean all drawers, closets and cabinets.
  • Clean the refrigerator. Turn the temperature to the lowest setting but leave the refrigerator on.
  • Clean the stove completely.
  • Return all furniture to the original position at the time of your arrival (i.e. bedroom furniture to the bedroom, etc.).
  • Vacuum carpet thoroughly.
  • Remove all trash from the entire house.

Charges for neglecting any of the above will be billed to your student account.

  • Lock all windows and doors.
  • Keep the window shades up.
  • Turn off all faucets.
  • Turn off all lights.
  • Turn thermostat to lowest setting.
  • Return University phones to their location at the time of your arrival.

Graduation

Students will be notified by email when the application process for graduation lots is available.
