The Two Feet of Social Action

Whoa! There are a lot of problems out there in the world! Poverty, war, climate change, racism... the list goes on and on. Yet people of faith (regardless of the faith tradition) are called to help make this world better. Catholic leaders and theologians talk about two general types of action--charity and justice. In the Center for Social Concern, we offer many opportunities for students to be involved in one or both of these. Walk with us!

Volunteer One Hour Per Week

ENGin (pronounced "engine") connects English-speaking volunteers aged 13+ with young Ukrainians in Ukraine for speaking practice and cross-cultural exchange through weekly video chat conversations. No teaching or tutoring experience or Ukrainian language skills needed. ENGin provides training, tips, materials for conversation topics, and all kinds of support.

Miryam Award 2024

The Center of Social Concern in Campus Ministry presented the Miryam Award to Isabella Saylor, ‘24 at a ceremony on March 21, 2024. Isabella, a senior computer engineering student from Hamilton, OH, was nominated by Dr Amy Niedhard-Doll.
