Operations and Supply Chain Management (B.S.B.A.)

Direct the Core Operations of an Organization

Operations and supply chain management (OSC) is the critical process within every business that creates, distributes, and improves products and services while ensuring the process is streamlined and efficient. While core operations vary from business to business, key elements include production, inventory planning, and control, procurement, sourcing and materials management, project planning and control, distribution and warehouse management, production scheduling, quality assurance, and management.

Our state-of-the-art program combines coursework in management and operations planning with hands-on experience through capstone consulting projects. You will take courses from various fields of study in addition to the core set of six operations and supply management courses. Electives allow you to tailor your studies based on your interests, and you may choose concentrations in business process management, e-commerce, entrepreneurship, manufacturing, operations accounting, quality management, and supply chain management.

The OSC program is selective and requires a student application process for current School of Business students and UD internal transfer students (students transferring to the School of Business from another UD academic unit). To learn more about how to apply to OSC, please refer to our OSC Major Application. To learn more about the available operations and supply chain management courses and to view a sample plan of study, please reference our Academic Catalog.

A High-Quality Education

Capstone Project

You'll gain hands-on experience through a capstone operations consulting field project. As part of the project, you’ll deal with operations and supply problems of a real manufacturing or service firm in the Dayton, Cincinnati or Columbus area.

On the Road to Success

When graduation arrives, you'll find you're not entering the real world for the first time. With your strong academic foundation and practical education, you'll already be a part of it, fully prepared for your career and future life. Demand for UD graduates in operations and supply chain management has been traditionally strong in manufacturing with growing demand from the distribution/logistics/transportation, health care and consulting sectors. Professional operations and supply chain management is seen as increasingly important, with more executive level positions as ever before in many organizations.
