Campuswide mass notification system test Jan. 30
At 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, the University's emergency management committee and the Department of Public Safety will conduct a campuswide test of the emergency notification system. Make sure your student's contact information is updated; they can follow these step-by-step instructions to do so.
Roger Glass Center for the Arts opens
Classes are underway at the Roger Glass Center for the Arts — where on any morning you might find a pre-law student learning stage makeup, a biology major hanging lights in the experimental theater, and a local artist preparing a new exhibit. A hope to do good
As a graduate student, Clarence Alan Jackson '90 thought a line from Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech would be a great idea for a scholarship one day. More than three decades later, he established the Stones of Hope Fellowship at UD, honoring King's dream of people becoming a stone of hope to do good for others. Read more about the fellowship.

Health Equity Fellows accepting applications
The Health Equity Program at the Fitz Center for Leadership in Community is recruiting first-year students expected to graduate in May 2027 interested in offering solutions to the health inequities in the Dayton region. Eligible students would join the program in their sophomore year. First-year students in any major are welcome to apply. The application deadline is Feb. 15; students can visit this link to apply to be a health equity fellow. Contact healthequity@udayton.edu with questions.
McGrath Awards winners announced
Six UD undergraduates will receive $750 Jack McGrath, S.M., Awards for Research in Catholic Intellectual Traditions for work completed in a CAP course in 2023. Seniors Jules Carr-Chellman, Daniel Dunphy and Lucy Waskiewicz, junior Maria Graziano, and first-year students Alexandra Amrhein and Zachary O'Connor will present their projects at the annual Catholic Intellectual Tradition Symposium Feb. 5-6. Their topics include reconstruction in New Orleans, the resonance of Jordan Peele's Get Out with Hades in ancient Greece, and the theological promise of a comparison of the arks of Noah and Utnapushtim. 2024 Marian Forum Tuesday, Feb. 13
All are welcome to attend this year's Marian Forum, where the theme of Mary as the patroness of America will be explored through a Marian votive Mass, Mardi Gras parade and celebration, speaking event by editors of the book American Patroness: Marian Shrines and the Making of U.S. Catholicism, as well as the presentation of the 2024 Marianist Award. Plan your spring research and writing projects
Book a Librarian and the Write Place can assist students with any research and writing project at any stage. Services are available in-person at Roesch Library and virtually. The Flyer 101
Anyone visiting The Hub or other downtown Dayton locations can ride The Flyer, a free bus service from the Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority. The Flyer, which launched in November 2018, offers free rides between campus and downtown Dayton attractions 6 a.m.-11 p.m. weekdays and 4 p.m. to midnight Saturdays.
