NEWS AND NOTES

Summer internship opportunities for students

Students can participate in two internship opportunities this summer with The Fitz Center for Leadership in Community's Educational Equity Programs.

  • The Educational Equity Programs summer impact program is a 10-week internship to provide UD students an opportunity to work with youth in Dayton Public Schools Neighborhood Schools Centers. Impact partners are placed in one school in June and July to provide daily support and operational assistance to K-8 students and site coordinators. Participants receive a $6,300 stipend, and will be required to attend weekly mini-course sessions. Students can get started by filling out this form, and be prepared to submit a cover letter, resume and references.
  • The Education Impact Partners summer internship provides UD students service-learning and professional opportunities with community schools, educational organizations, and nonprofit and government agencies. Applications are open for summer internships, with a time commitment of six hours each week including a two-hour mini-course and four hours of service in the Dayton community. Participants receive a $2,000 scholarship.

Contact Ashley Wright, director of education equity programs with questions about the internships.

UD Magazine digital edition

The spring 2024 University of Dayton Magazine is available online. The cover feature highlights the storied life and remarkable talent of renowned artist Willis "Bing" Davis, whose papers are housed in University Archives. Inside the issue, we check in with the alumni founders of Mission of Mary Cooperative, talk with a student who escaped Afghanistan in a cargo plane, celebrate our first campaign milestone — participation by more than 19,250 new Front Porch Society members — and much more.

First We Soar campaign goal achieved

Join us in celebration of achieving the We Soar campaign participation goal. Since the We Soar campaign began in 2017, more than 19,250 donors have joined the Front Porch Society — making gifts for three or more consecutive, fiscal years. And more than 70% of them continue to donate annually, many doing so as part of One Day, One Dayton. Thank you for helping UD become the best it can be for current and future Flyers. Learn more in the digital edition of the University of Dayton Magazine.
