THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW

Chapel of the Immaculate Conception closing weekdays in January

From Thursday, Jan. 4 through Friday, Feb. 2, all weekday Chapel of the Immaculate Conception liturgical celebrations, including 12:30 p.m. Mass, reconciliation, exposition and evening prayers will be moved to the Marianist Hall chapel while the main chapel receives needed lighting system repairs. Scheduled times for all weekday celebrations will remain unchanged. The Marianist Hall chapel also will be available during the day for personal prayer. Please note: ONLY weekday celebrations are impacted and ALL normally scheduled Sunday Masses will remain in the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception during this time.

Feast day of Blessed Adèle de Batz de Trenquelléon

Join the University in celebrating the feast day of Blessed Adèle de Batz de Trenquelléon, foundress of the Marianist sisters, at the 12:30 p.m. Mass Wednesday, Jan. 10. Because the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception will be closed, the Mass will be in the Kennedy Union ballroom. A reception will follow in Torch Lounge.

Where’s my mail?

If you were expecting packages and letter mail during the break, read this list of frequently asked questions from UD Mailing Services about the status of your mail and how you can get your items when you return to campus.

Son of UD alumnus killed in action in Iraq honors family legacy in military service

Every Jan. 20, you can find John Kelly near the plaque outside the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception honoring UD Army ROTC graduates who died while serving their country. It's the place he goes on the anniversary of his father's death — Col. Paul Kelly '84, who was killed along with 11 other soldiers when their helicopter was shot down in 2007 during the war in Iraq. He is the only UD Army ROTC grad to lose his life in service during that war. Read more about the Kelly family on Front Porch.
