Roger Brown Residency lecture: Sports Media and Social Justice with Jessica Luther

The campus community is invited to a talk at 7 p.m. tonight in the Kennedy Union ballroom with investigative journalist, author and podcaster Jessica Luther about the modern sports media environment. Luther is the second resident of the Roger Brown Residency in Social Justice, Writing and Sport, and will be at UD through Feb. 29. Read more about Luther's talk here.

Education career interview day

This event is open to graduating UD students and alumni seeking full-time careers in education. Participants can meet with employers 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, at Daniel J. Curran Place. File the FAFSA by April 1

The U.S. Department of Education introduced significant changes to the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) this year. Students planning to return to UD next year should file the FAFSA by April 1 to maintain financial aid eligibility. Learn more about FAFSA changes on our website.

"Art and Science of Solar and Lunar Eclipse Photography" lecture

Brian Kent, former U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory chief technology officer and an amateur astro-photographer, will visit UD to share his experiences photographing eclipses at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, in Sears Recital Hall. Dayton is in the path of totality for the Great American Solar Eclipse April 8, and Kent also will share ideas on safely and effectively photographing the event. Campus life, mental health and stigma: A Dialogue Zone series

Join the Dialogue Zone in Roesch Library 107 for a three-part series on mental wellbeing at UD and in society at-large. The series aims to explore personal experiences and stories related to stressors in university life, mental health and stigmas. Faculty, staff and students are welcome to join sessions 2:30-3:20 p.m. Wednesdays March 6, March 20 and April 3. Register for the Dialogue Zone sessions here.

Lenten Encounter: Journey of the Heart

Chicago artist Jacqueline Romo, creator of the Passion of the Monarca Migrante, will guide participants in a reflection on the connections between Jesus' passion, death and resurrection, the immigrant experience and Catholic Social teaching 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Thursday, March 7, in Liberty Hall 08. Lunch is provided, employees and students should register on 1850. At 6:30 p.m., Romo will hold a public talk in the Adele McGinnis Room, followed by bilingual Mass in Spanish and English at 8 p.m. Email Arumi Ortiz with questions.

Last call: Nominate outstanding students for leadership awards

Student Leadership Programs is seeking nominations of recognized student organizations, undergraduate student leaders and student organization advisers for the 2024 Student Leadership Awards. Nominees will be recognized and winners announced at the Leadership Awards Ceremony April 21. Submit nominations through 1850 by March 5.

Reminder: Nominate an inspiring woman for International Women's Day

Frida Kahlo. Malala Yousafzai. Ruth Bader Ginsberg. Beyoncé. Your grandmother. On International Women's Day, we celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. Help the UD community celebrate International Women's Day March 8 by nominating a woman who inspires you. This can be a woman who is or was historically important, a woman whose story has impacted you or even a woman you know. Responses will be shared with our campus community in a blog story.

Submit nominations for the Presidential Staff Achievement Award

The Office of Human Resources is accepting nominations for the Presidential Staff Achievement Award through Friday, March 15. All employees in good standing with at least one year of service are eligible. Students wishing to submit a nomination should work with an employee to do so. View the nomination form here.  

Equity Compliance Office monthly update

The Equity Compliance Office this month covers the process when the office receives a report about possible harassment or discrimination. The flowchart in this issue can help students understand their options and resources through ECO. Review the current update here.

UD Physical Therapy wins awards at annual conference

Students and faculty from the UD Department of Physical Therapy presented research at the American Physical Therapy Association's annual scientific conference last week in Boston. Four of the 12 research presentations won the top award in their categories. Read more about the research and awards.
