Easter recess, Holy Week 2024

Easter recess for students begins after the last class Friday, March 22; classes resume at 4:30 p.m. Monday, April 1. University offices will be closed Friday, March 29, in observance of Good Friday. University offices will reopen Monday, April 1. You are invited to celebrate Holy Week and the Easter Triduum at UD in the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception. Holy Week Reconciliation and service schedules can be found here.

Celebrating Easter

For Christians, Easter celebrates the resurrection of Jesus — the triumph of life's victory over death. Easter is a celebration of hope. God promises victory over death through faith in Jesus, who is the true light of the world. Because of Jesus, Christians look forward to their everlasting life. The victory of life over death also has significance in daily life, in the ways that Christians grow as disciples of Jesus, who accompanies all through the joys and challenges of living in faith. The Easter season lasts 50 days, through the celebration of Pentecost. Read more on the Campus Ministry website.

Easter recess mail information

Eclipse glasses to be distributed/available for pickup starting April 3

Distribution of eclipse glasses to employees and students will begin Wednesday, April 3. We ask that you take just one pair so there is enough for everyone on campus who wishes to get a pair. Residents of VWK can pick up a pair at Stuart Complex. Residents of the student neighborhoods and Garden Apartments can pick up a pair at 461 Kiefaber. A limited supply of glasses will be available for pick up at the front desks of Roesch Library and RecPlex and the Kennedy Union information desk if you miss the opportunity to pick up a pair in your offices or student residences. We strongly encourage you to read more here about how eclipse glasses are necessary to safely view the eclipse.

The meal is $10, which also enters you into a raffle for UD-logoed prizes. Purchase meal tickets from KU, Marycrest and VWK starting April 1. Dining services also is giving away 100 Frisbees for the first 100 tickets sold. Eclipse-themed cookies will be on sale the week before the eclipse at all dining locations.

Final exam week attendance expectations for students

The final exam period for this semester runs from Monday, April 29, through Friday, May 3. As a reminder, students are expected to remain on campus through the scheduled exam times for their classes, articulated at the start of the term in the university's spring 2024 final exam schedule.

Questions about this policy can be directed to the Office of the Provost. We wish you success the last half of the semester.
