Attend Stander Symposium 2024

During this year's Stander Symposium today, more than 1,000 undergraduate and graduate students are presenting 468 projects as part of UD's annual celebration of student research and engagement. Stander Symposium project abstracts are open for browsing on eCommons. The 2024 Stander Symposium schedule is available here. A Google sheet of the sessions, sorted by department, is available to search and download.

In Memoriam: Don Donoher, winningest basketball coach in UD history

Don Donoher, the winningest coach in University of Dayton basketball history, a former Flyer men's basketball captain and recipient of multiple hall of fame honors, died April 12, at 92. Read more about his life and coaching career.

University of Dayton community experiences total solar eclipse

UD's Central Mall on sunny, 70-degree spring days is usually busy, full of students enjoying the weather. Monday, April 8, those perfect conditions enabled hundreds of students, faculty, staff, family and friends to witness the area's first total solar eclipse in 1,200 years. First-gen ice cream social April 18

Do you identify as a first-generation college student or are interested in learning about how to become a first-generation ally? Stop by the first-gen ice cream social 4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 18, in the Roesch Library Gathering Space to meet other first-gen students, get to know members of the first-gen team, and learn more about upcoming events. The event is open to students, faculty and staff. Contact Shyra Thomas or Zachary Lewis with questions.

Roger Glass Center for the Arts events

This weekend, the theatre, dance, and performance technology program and the UD Department of Music present "Godspell," Steven Schwartz's musical retelling of the Gospel of St. Matthew. Performances are 7:30 p.m. April 19 and 20, and 4 p.m. April 21. Purchase tickets here. The Horvath Annual Juried UD Student Exhibition and "Listen, Choreography and Punctuation, Where has the time gone?;" a collage installation by Rick Griffith, are on display in the art gallery through July 31. Dayton baseball at Day Air Ballpark

The Dayton Flyers baseball team is back at Day Air Ballpark for a night of baseball in downtown Dayton. Come support the Flyers as they take on Eastern Kentucky 7 p.m. Tuesday April 23. Students are free, click here to claim your tickets and select your seats. Adult tickets are $10 and children 11 and younger are $5. First 400 fans get a free T-shirt. Library award winners announced

The University Libraries will honor Lucy Waskiewicz, Rojan K C and Malena Coleman with the 2024 Library Awards. All are welcome to attend the University Libraries Awards and student recognition ceremony at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, in the Gathering Place, Roesch Library. Read more about the honorees.

Applications open for $750 McGrath award

Are you completing a project for a CAP course that engages Catholic Intellectual Traditions in some way? Apply now for a Fr. Jack McGrath, S.M., award. Projects from the spring, summer and fall 2024 semesters are eligible for the 2025 award. Applications are due Dec. 18. Click here for the application and more details.

UD increases ranking 19 spots among U.S. News & World Report best education graduate schools

The University of Dayton's graduate education program jumped 19 spots in this year's U.S. News & World Report rankings. The improvement is credited in part to the conferring of first doctorate degrees in education and an increase in research activity. Read more on the School of Education and Health Sciences blog.

University Libraries' hours change next academic year

Beginning fall 2024, Roesch Library will be open 7:45 a.m.-11 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 7:45 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m.-8 p.m Saturday; 10 a.m.-11 p.m. Sunday; and 24 hours the week prior to and during final exams. University Archives and Special Collections and the Marian Library will be open 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and by appointment on Mondays.
