General Application Tips
Here are some general tips to help you through the application process. Graduate, international and law students, please refer to the appropriate admission Information page for additional requirements and details.
If you have any questions when applying to UD, please contact us and let our team know how we can assist you.
- Check deadlines for submitting applications.
- Ask for letters of recommendation — and be sure to thank them.
- File the FAFSA as soon as it opens.
- Undergraduates, decide if you wish to submit test scores and check if they are required (UD is test-optional).
- Graduate students, check with your department to learn which test scores, if any, are required.
- Read all application instructions.
- Prepare your essay. This is your opportunity to distinguish yourself in your own voice. Select a prompt that speaks to your experiences and who you are as a person. Share details that help reviewers create a meaningful understanding of who you are as a whole person and how you will contribute to the UD community.
- Gather required documentation.
- Have your transcript translated into English if it is written in another language.
- International undergraduate students need to provide additional financial documentation.
- If you plan to transfer to UD, submit your transfer credit evaluation request prior to applying to UD.
