Deadline for Fall 2024 Nursing Applications: November 1, 2023

Applications for Fall 2025 students will open August 1, 2024. To be considered for admission, submit the following items by November 1:

Admission Timeline

  • Nursing application deadline (non-binding): Nov. 1
  • Nursing admission notification: Nov. - Dec.
  • FAFSA available: by Dec. 31, 2023. See what's changing.
  • Nursing enrollment deadline: extended to May 15 due to FAFSA delays.

All applicants and matriculating students must meet essential abilities outlined in the Sinclair College nursing student handbook:

  1. Ability to manage the stress and rigor of the nursing profession.
  2. Respond and react immediately to verbal instructions/requests.
  3. Demonstrate effective oral communication.
  4. Perform close and distance visual activities involving objects, persons, and paperwork, as well as discriminate depth and color perception.
  5. Respond and react immediately to auditory signals from monitoring equipment.
  6. Perform auditory auscultation without impediment.
  7. Discriminate between sharp/dull and hot/cold when using hands.
  8. Work in a standing position.
  9. Frequent walking.
  10. Lift and transfer patients up to six inches (6") from a stooped position, then push or pull the weight up to three feet (3').
  11. Lift and transfer patients from a stooped to an upright position to accomplish bed-to-chair and chair-to-bed transfers.
  12. Physically apply up to ten pounds (10#) of pressure.

BSN students must receive a proficient rating or higher in each of the four areas of the Test for Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) by March 1 of their sophomore year at the University of Dayton to matriculate to Sinclair's nursing program.


Nursing applicants are automatically considered for merit scholarships using their admission application materials — no additional scholarship application is required. When students are enrolled in fewer than 12 credit hours at UD, students will receive a prorated amount of financial aid to offset their University of Dayton tuition charges.

The $500 per semester University of Dayton textbook scholarship may be used towards required course materials for UD coursework purchased through the University of Dayton Bookstore.


International applicants to the University of Dayton BSN program must meet BSN admission requirements in addition to passing scores from TOEFL. All TOEFL (IBT) scores must meet or exceed the following criteria:

  • Reading: 22
  • Writing: 23
  • Listening: 21
  • Speaking: 24
  • Composite: 90

Through the BSN program, you will graduate with an associate degree in nursing from Sinclair Community College and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Dayton — both in four years.
